Nuclear medicine of the Luzerner Kantonsspital

Since October 2021, the nuclear medicine department of the Luzerner Kantonsspital (LUKS) has been available to patients close to home at the Zuger Kantonsspital with a PET-CT device of the latest generation. With the PET/CT, modern nuclear medicine examinations can be performed for the diagnosis of tumors, inflammations and brain diseases.

PET/CT is an imaging technique based on the combination of positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT). With the PET procedure, various biochemical processes of the human body can be visualized in the form of cross-sectional images.

With the help of lightly radioactively labeled substances, even small tumor foci and offshoots or even inflammatory processes can be detected and precisely localized more sensitively than with other imaging methods, which is of great importance for diagnostics and therapy planning.
