Aid project NEO FOR NAMIBIA

In Switzerland, we are in a privileged position when it comes to healthcare. During childbirth, both mother and child enjoy safety and comfort within a modern healthcare system. Unfortunately, however, there are many countries where people do not have this privilege.

Prof. Thomas M. Berger, former Head of the Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Lucerne Children’s Hospital, has been working as a paediatrician specialising in neonatology at Zuger Kantonsspital since 2017. Together with his wife, Sabine Berger, a paediatric nurse, he founded the charity NEO FOR NAMIBIA – Helping Babies Survive three years ago.

NEO FOR NAMIBIA – Helping Babies Survive is a charitable organisation based in Switzerland that focuses on implementing simple medical interventions known to improve survival rates among newborns.

Since 2019, Zuger Kantonsspital has been supporting this humanitarian neonatology project in Namibia. The organisation receives a small donation for every baby born at Zuger Kantonsspital.

Further information about the project and the missions carried out to date can be found on the website of NEO FOR NAMIBIA – Helping Babies survive
