Health check-ups

A health check-up gives you a clear picture of your current state of health, even before any symptoms arise. The Department of Sports Medicine at Zuger Kantonsspital offers internal medicine screening tests that can provide early indications of cardiovascular, metabolic or oncological conditions. In this way, we work together to lay the foundations for your long-term health.

What is a health check-up?

A health check-up is a structured internal medicine screening. It comprises a detailed medical history, a physical examination by a specialist, and targeted diagnostic tests such as blood and cardiovascular analyses. The aim is the early detection of risk factors and conditions before symptoms appear.

Five check-ups to suit every need

We offer a choice of five check-up levels, ranging from the compact Basic Check-up to the comprehensive Gold Check-up. We work with you to select the appropriate level of examination, tailored to your age, medical history and personal concerns. A check-up usually takes from a few hours to half a day and takes place in a calm, personalised atmosphere.

If you have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, or if you wish, we can supplement the check-up with a Cardio-CT scan: this non-invasive imaging technique provides a detailed view of the coronary arteries and delivers important additional information for the early detection of cardiovascular diseases.

You can find a direct comparison of all the services offered across the five levels in our service overview, available for download.

Overview of ServicesBooking a health check-up

How your check-up works

We’ll guide you through every step, from booking your appointment to receiving your report. On the day of the examination itself, almost all procedures take place under one roof, with no long waiting times.

1. Booking

You can book your appointment by telephone or using the online form. We’ll explain the process and how long it will take, and answer any questions you may have.

2. Preparation at home

Around two weeks before your appointment, you’ll receive your documents by post, including a questionnaire and, depending on the package, a stool sample kit complete with instructions and a return envelope.

3. The day of the examination at the clinic

During a health check-up, you’ll undergo all the necessary tests: measurements, blood tests, imaging and a medical examination. For the Gold Check-up, the cardiac CT scan takes place around a week beforehand at a separate appointment.

4. Personal consultation

Immediately afterwards, the specialist will discuss the results with you at your leisure.

5. Report

You will receive your written medical examination report, including all test results. If further investigations are advisable, we will be happy to advise you accordingly.
