Support for Interplast Switzerland

In many countries around the world, there are diseases that leave people with scars and disfigurements. Accidents involving burns, fractures or animal bites are also common, and in crisis-hit areas, people are repeatedly the victims of violent conflicts. The doctors at Interplast Switzerland operate on and treat these people in need, thereby helping them to lead a dignified life.

Dr. med. Elvira Bodmer, Consultant in Hand Surgery at the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, has been a member of the Interplast Switzerland team since 2019. She has already led several volunteer missions in Ghana.

All medicines, surgical instruments and the necessary materials are brought from Switzerland and funded by donations, as are the costs of transport and accommodation for the team members. Since 2024, Zuger Kantonsspital has been supporting this humanitarian project in Ghana with an annual donation of materials.

Interplast Switzerland is a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping the world’s poorest people. Experienced specialist teams from the fields of hand surgery, plastic surgery, anaesthesia, surgical nursing and occupational therapy travel to crisis-hit areas in their spare time, working without pay to treat people who would otherwise receive no medical care.

Further information and mission reports can be found on the Interplast Switzerland website and on Instagram.
