Infectious diseases & infection prevention

Bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites are all around us. They only become dangerous when they multiply inside the body and cause an infection. Our Department of Infectious Diseases and Infection Prevention specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of infectious diseases. The specialist team also ensures that infections within the hospital are detected, treated correctly and – wherever possible – prevented from occurring in the first place. As part of the Medical Clinic at Zuger Kantonsspital, we work closely with all clinical departments, the nursing team and external specialists to achieve this.

Zuger Kantonsspital offers a consultation service for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This service includes advice, testing, and treatment.

STIs often cause no immediate symptoms and therefore frequently go undetected. Even without symptoms, testing can be advisable – for example, after engaging in risky behavior or with frequently changing sexual partners. We are happy to advise you on which tests are appropriate and how often you should be tested.

Are you experiencing symptoms such as discharge, burning/itching in the genital area, have you noticed changes in your mucous membranes, or have you developed flu-like symptoms, fever, or a rash after sexual contact with a new partner? Come in and get tested.
