Sports medicine

The Zuger Kantonsspital has been recognised as a ‘Sport Medical Base approved by Swiss Olympic’ since 2008 and offers a wide range of sports medicine services. Our interdisciplinary team supports elite athletes and recreational sportspeople in all aspects of their health and performance. It also offers medical check-ups, including laboratory diagnostics and other tests (health check-ups), to non-athletes.

Sports medical check-up

Anyone who exercises regularly places considerable demands on their body. A sports medicine check-up at Zuger Kantonsspital provides clarity on your state of health and your physical capacity. This applies whether you train at a high level, are returning to exercise after a break, or are involved in competitive sport. We will examine you thoroughly and provide personalised advice to ensure you can continue to perform safely and effectively in the long term.

Who should have a sports medicine check-up?

Sport improves health and reduces stress. To ensure that sport remains beneficial to your health in the long term, individual circumstances and potential health risks should be taken into account. Regular sports medicine check-ups are recommended for active sportspeople, but particularly for those returning to sport. For competitive athletes, prevention is key: we support and advise you on building up your training programme and highlight measures to avoid injuries and infections whilst safeguarding your performance.

Your examination process at Zuger Kantonsspital

Our sports medicine assessments are based on the guidelines of Swiss Olympic. We work closely with various specialist departments within our hospital. Before the examination, you will complete a questionnaire. We will then analyse your blood test results and carry out an ECG. This is followed by a detailed physical examination, including assessment of the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems. Finally, we will discuss the results with you in detail and work with you to determine the next steps.

Why choose Zuger Kantonsspital?

As a networked acute care centre, we combine sports medicine expertise with the specialist knowledge of numerous clinics under one roof. If the check-up indicates a need for further investigation, the path to cardiology, orthopaedics or other specialist departments is short. This ensures you receive a well-founded assessment and personalised advice.
