Fees & Cost Coverage

Whether you are receiving outpatient or inpatient treatment, we recommend that you clarify with your insurance provider at an early stage whether they will cover the costs. Our specialist staff will be happy to provide you with information on the approximate costs of your planned stay.

Health insurance cover

We will bill your health insurance or accident insurance directly for your treatment in accordance with the applicable rates and contracts. Please bring your health insurance card with you when you are admitted to hospital. Before you are admitted, please check with your insurer in good time to find out

  • whether they will cover the costs,
  • whether there are any insurance reservations or exclusions,
  • and whether your supplementary insurance covers the additional services.

Advance payment in the event of insufficient cost coverage

If your health insurance provider does not cover the costs, or if the pre-authorisation amount is insufficient, we ask that you make an advance payment no later than on admission. The amount depends on the extent of the procedure. The staff at Patient Admissions will be happy to give you an approximate figure.

Additional services not covered

If you do not have adequate insurance cover, any additional costs incurred will be at your own expense. If you have any questions regarding your insurance, our admissions team will be happy to assist you.

Patients resident outside Switzerland

If you are resident outside Switzerland, you must make an advance payment equivalent to the estimated treatment costs before admission to hospital. Patients with general health insurance who present a European Health Insurance Card are exempt from this advance payment.

Mandatory copy of the invoice

Under the Health Insurance Act, all patients are entitled to receive a copy of their invoice if it is sent directly to their insurance provider. We use the Swisscom Health service to send copies of invoices electronically.

What does this mean for you?

As soon as your copy of the invoice has been generated, you will receive an email from Swisscom Health containing a link. When you click on this link, you will receive a security code via text message. You can use this code to open and save the copy of the invoice for 30 days. After this period, Swisscom Health will delete the data.

If you prefer, or if we do not have a valid email address or mobile number for you, you will receive a copy of your invoice by post.
