Reasons why you should do your apprenticeship at the hospital
- You’ll be studying business – but with a specialisation you won’t find anywhere else: patient administration, tariff systems and billing in the healthcare sector
- The 16 course days organised by the H+ Association provide sector-specific training tailored to the healthcare sector
- Covering five departments over three years means you’ll gain an understanding of how an entire hospital functions from a financial perspective, rather than just one aspect
- Even in an administrative role, you’ll be working for people receiving treatment at the hospital – your work forms part of their care
Your everyday life – a personal account
One of our apprentices says:
What is a typical day like during the apprenticeship?
‘During my training, I am working in five different administrative departments. My duties range from administrative tasks – such as patient admission procedures – to entering and posting invoices, and processing job applications.’
What are the particular challenges?
“Starting in a new department is always a particular challenge, because you have to learn a great deal of new information in a short space of time. To ensure you can work independently again as quickly as possible, it’s worth putting together your own handbook with notes.”
Why did you choose this profession?
“I chose the commercial apprenticeship because it provides a very solid foundation for my career. Once my apprenticeship is over, I’ll be able to build on this in various directions. The training at Zuger Kantonsspital is particularly exciting because you have a lot of contact with people and every day is different.”
