Symptoms such as palpitations, chest tightness or shortness of breath need to be clearly diagnosed. Our cardiology department relies on comprehensive cardiac diagnostics to achieve this. These include echocardiography, stress tests and imaging using cardiac MRI and cardiac CT. This enables us to detect coronary heart disease, cardiac arrhythmias or heart failure at an early stage and treat them effectively.
Your treatment at Zuger Kantonsspital
We begin with a detailed consultation: we listen to you, assess your symptoms from a medical perspective and work with you to agree on a treatment plan. We carry out various procedures on-site. These include the implantation of pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac monitors to monitor your heart rhythm. If a specialised procedure is required that needs to be carried out elsewhere, we work closely with the major cardiac centres and support you both before and after the procedure in a familiar environment.
Heart failure: specialist clinic and counselling
Heart failure – that is, a weakened heart – often affects people for years. At our heart failure clinic, you will receive an assessment and treatment tailored to your specific situation. The Head of Cardiology, Dr Niels Holm, holds a CAS in Heart Failure and is therefore a recognised specialist in the treatment of heart failure.
