Nutritional advice & therapy

A diet tailored to individual needs is an important part of medical treatment. The nutritional counselling and therapy team supports in-patient and out-patient patients with nutritional and medical concerns. We tailor our counselling and therapy to each individual’s clinical presentation, nutritional status, treatment and personal circumstances.

When nutritional therapy or dietary advice is recommended

Nutritional therapy or dietary advice is recommended when an illness, an operation or a change in food intake affects a person’s diet or nutritional status.

At Zuger Kantonsspital, we support patients with conditions including malnutrition, unintentional weight loss, inadequate food intake and increased energy and protein requirements. In our outpatient department, we support people with chronic conditions or long-term nutritional therapy needs. We tailor our advice and therapy to each individual’s medical situation, personal needs and everyday life.

Specialist support within an interdisciplinary team

Nutritional therapy and dietary counselling are provided in close collaboration with the treating team comprising medical, nursing and other specialist departments. The dietary counselling and therapy team contributes its expertise in nutritional medicine and tailors the measures individually to the patient’s medical situation and needs. In doing so, it works in accordance with the latest findings in nutritional medicine and scientific research.
