Three surgical procedures – chosen on an individual basis
There are essentially three possible approaches. In open surgery, the procedure is carried out via an incision in the abdomen. This is necessary if a lesion requires direct access due to its size or if malignancy is suspected. Vaginal surgery utilises the natural route via the vagina and does not require an external incision. We also use this approach for all procedures that involve a hysteroscopy.
In the case of minimally invasive abdominal surgery – the keyhole technique (laparoscopy) – we carry out the procedure via a few small incisions in the abdominal wall, which is particularly gentle on the tissue and speeds up recovery after the procedure compared to open surgery. For this procedure, we use three-dimensional (3D) imaging with a magnification effect and maximum image resolution (4K) in our fully digital operating theatre. This enables even complex procedures to be carried out in a controlled manner whilst minimising tissue damage.
Robot-assisted procedures
In addition, we also carry out robot-assisted operations. In this procedure, the system precisely replicates the surgeon’s hand movements, again supported by spatial 3D vision. Control remains with the surgeon at all times.
Choosing the right procedure together
Not every situation requires the same procedure. That is why we carefully weigh up the benefits and risks of each procedure and discuss the options with you. The aim is always to find an approach that makes medical sense and is tailored to your needs.
