Services A-Z

We aim to make the stay with us as pleasant as possible for patients, their relatives and visitors. Here you will find an overview of our non-medical services at the hospital – from A to Z.

Pharmacy

There is a public pharmacy on the ground floor, near the main entrance. You can find details of the products available and opening hours on the chemist’s website. To find out how to collect your medication when you are discharged, please see the section on Discharge & Follow-up Care.

Cafeteria, Restaurant and Kiosk

You can find details of the menu and opening hours for the restaurant, cafeteria and kiosk here.

Hairdresser

If you wish, we can arrange an appointment with a hairdresser for you. You will be responsible for the cost of this. Please speak to your nurse or Room Service. They will be happy to help you.

Transport service

You are responsible for your own travel to and from the hospital. Do you need assistance from a transport service such as Tixi-Taxi? If so, please speak to your nurse or Room Service. They will be happy to arrange a transport service or a taxi for you.

Drinks and snack vending machines

Drinks and snack vending machines are available in the lounge area on Level 2 and at the reception of the emergency centre on the ground floor.

Internet access (Wi-Fi)

Free Wi-Fi is available in the patient rooms. The network is called ‘ZGKS-Gast’. Please note that it is unsecured and unencrypted.

Car parks

You can find information on parking and travelling by public transport under ‘How to get here’.

Patient advice

A stay in hospital can raise questions. Our patient advice service supports patients and their carers through difficult times. It puts you in touch with specialist services and helps you organise the period following your discharge from hospital. If you would like to make use of this service, please speak to your nurse.

Post and letterbox

There is a postbox at the entrance to the car park for outgoing letters. Stamps are available from the kiosk. Please address post to in-patient patients as follows:

Zuger Kantonsspital
Mrs / Mr [First name, Surname]
Landhausstrasse 11
6340 Baar

Smoking

The Zuger Kantonsspital premises are smoke-free. Smoking is only permitted in the signposted outdoor smoking areas. Tobacco products are not available at the kiosk.

Room of Silence

The Room of Silence on Level 3 is a place for reflection, contemplation and tranquillity. It is open to all patients, relatives and visitors at all times.

Room Service

Room Service is here to assist you with all non-medical matters, from ordering meals to looking after your flowers. You can find all our services under ‘Hospitality & Catering’.

Hospital chaplaincy

The hospital chaplaincy team will support you and your relatives during your stay, should you wish. They are available for conversations, crisis intervention, grief counselling and end-of-life care, as well as for religious needs such as prayer, Holy Communion, the Lord’s Supper, the Anointing of the Sick, a blessing for the sick or confession. If you would like to get in touch with the chaplaincy team, please speak to your nurse.

Telephone, TV and radio

Peace and rest are important during a hospital stay. Please therefore be considerate of your fellow patients. Observe quiet hours, keep the volume of your devices at a reasonable level and, where possible, use headphones.

Landline telephone

A telephone is integrated into your media terminal. You will be given your personal telephone number by your nurse on admission. To ensure that all patients can get sufficient rest, incoming calls between 9 pm and 7 am are handled by our switchboard and will only be put through to you in urgent cases.

Mobile phones and tablets

You are generally permitted to use your mobile phone or tablet. Please be considerate of your fellow patients and observe the quiet hours.

Television and radio

You can access various television and radio programmes via the media terminal. Headphones are available on request from your nurse.

Animals

For hygiene reasons, animals are not permitted in the hospital. A special arrangement applies to guide dogs, therapy dogs and assistance dogs – see the ‘Preparation’ section for more information.

Rooms offering more privacy

Would you like more peace and privacy? You can find details of the upgrade offer under ‘Hospitality & Catering’.
