Traumatology

The Traumatology team cares for patients with acute injuries and the consequences of these injuries. We are certified as a regional trauma centre and work in close cooperation with the Central Switzerland Trauma Network.

Traumatology has evolved enormously in recent years. Our team has acquired extensive broad-ranging experience in the surgical and non-operative treatment of accident casualties. A specialised traumatology team is on duty round the clock.

Sports traumatology is based in our Centre for Sports Medicine, which has been granted Swiss Olympic approval. More than one third of all recreational accidents involve sports. The type of injury varies considerably from one sport to another. We have extensive experience in the treatment of top-level athletes as well as recreational athletes. We are the official medical partner of the EVZ and of LK Zug Handball and their National A League teams.

Treatment of bone fractures in the elderly (osteoporosis/traumatology)
Fracture treatment, non-surgical (particularly for children)
Fractures and bone infections that have not healed - evaluation and treatment
Surgical bone fracture treatments (osteosyntheses with plates, intramedullary nails etc.)
Sports and joint injuries (shoulder, knee, ankle, foot) - evaluation and treatment
Reconstruction of injured large tendons (e.g. torn Achilles tendon)
