Infection prevention

The primary objective of our Infection Prevention Department is the detection and prevention of hospital-acquired infections. The risk of what are referred to as nosocomial infections, can be reduced by conservative and sensible use of antibiotics and by preventing the transmission of germs in the hospital setting. This includes implementing key measures such as adherence to hygiene principles, hand hygiene and isolation of infectious patients.

Our mission at the Zug Cantonal Hospital is to provide practice-oriented advice and training for staff in all aspects of infection prevention. By providing advice and participating in the interdisciplinary working groups, we contribute to both the development of quality and quality assurance. Our cooperation with other hospitals and experts allows us to exploit synergies and implement a modern infection prevention strategy. The decisive factor for hygiene quality is the application of this knowledge within the different departments. This is precisely why we attach great importance to a close interdisciplinary cooperation.
