STI-Check (Sexually transmitted diseases - evaluation and treatment)

The Zuger Kantonsspital offers an advice service for sexually transmitted infections. This service includes counselling and testing for:

• HIV
• syphilis
• chlamydia
• gonococci
• hepatitis B/C

When does it make sense to be tested?
A test always make sense if there is a relevant risk. These risks might include frequent changes of sexual partners, or a health problem that may indicate a sexually transmitted infection. Symptoms may include discharge, burning/itching in the genital area or changes to the mucous membrane. In addition, a diagnostic evaluation is recommended in the case of flu-like symptoms with fever or skin rashes after sexual contact with a new sexual partner.
